Monsters vs. Aliens

This animation, action, sci fi, comical movie directed by Rob Letterman stars the voices of Seth Rogen (B.O.B.), Reese Witherspoon (Susan Murphy/Ginormica), Hugh Laurie (Dr. Cockroach Ph.D.) and other voices. The basic idea of this movie is that likable monsters are asked by the government to go up against crazy aliens coming for earth. Anyhow I had no buyer remorse at all seeing this movie because I thought it looked comical and it surely was for me. I have to say if I was monster I think I would be B.O.B. the blob. I don't know if there are any what monster are you personality tests on the Internet, but for some reason out of the five I imagine I would be the distinctive amusing B.O.B. personality. So anyhow I enjoyed the personality of the amusing, sort of unlikely hero main characters. So I think I have covered my basic view on the brilliantly funny concept here of funny monsters taking on in someways the funny in a dark way evil alien. And I would bet if you are like me and enjoy seeing Pixar types of movies with their characters doing their own slapstick type of work then this movie would be right up your alley for sure.

Defiance

This action, drama, thriller, war movie, directed by Edward Zwick stars Daniel Craig (Tuvia Bielski), Liev Schreiber (Zus Bielski), Jamie Bell (Asael Bielski) and others. This historical, true story is about the Nazi occupancy in Eastern Europe. The story is also all about 1,000 non-combatant Jews and two Jewish brothers with other Jewish fighters coming together with Russian resistance fighters and battling for survival in the Belarussian Forest against the Nazi occupancy of Europe. I had not exactly heard this dramatic World War 2 story before and I am glad they made a movie about these Russian and Jewish heroes who did all they could to save themselves, each other and fight against the Nazi occupancy in Europe. In my view it is a good movie because it is historically educational and recognizes some of the many real life heroes in World War 2 up against Hitler. Defiance dramatically shows what the Jewish and Russian resistances were up against and their great struggle against a Nazis occupancy in Europe. The movie made me realize how grateful I was to live in a free country today because of heroes who defeated dictatorships in the world like the Nazis and it is amazing all that Tuvia and Zus and others go through in their brave fight against Hitler and his forces. So in conclusion here I will just say if you can handle war dramas and want to learn about the dramatic and treacherous history of the World War 2 then Defiance is a good pick.

Inkheart

This adventure, family, fantasy movie is directed by Lain Softley and stars Brendan Fraser (Mo 'Silvertongue' Folchart), Sienna Guillory (Resa), Eliza Bennett (Meggie Folchart) and others. The story is about a young girl who comes to find her father has a gift to be able to bring characters out of their books and it comes to be here that the good characters in the movie must try and stop a freed villain from an ultimate disaster of a sort. For my review on this blog I will just say that I think this story could be a must see if you are into Harry Potter, Spiderwick Chronicles or other related sorts because I think it lives up to them nicely. However I think Inkheart might have a had a little less human looking characters like trolls then other films like Harry Potter, but that was fine enough for me because I found the characters in Inkheart all were distinctive and interesting enough. I also have to say on a side-note here I think they should make a new full blown wizard type of spoof movie out there like Hollywood has spoofed on many other types of movies in the past. The first name I would pick out would be Dudley Dumble McGrumble Flitwick for this movie concept. So I will just have to see about that actually happening, but anyhow I think if you are a fantasy buff or into anything of the sort then you might just want to check out Inkheart in theaters.
