Fred Claus

Fred Claus is a comedy, family and fantasy movie directed by David Dobkin. The movie stars Vince Vaughn (Fred Claus), Paul Giamatti (Nick 'Santa' Claus), John Michael Higgins (Willie), Kevin Spacey (Clyde) and others. The point of the movie is that Santa's brother has to move to the North Pole and finds a bit of adventure helping Santa with Christmas. I thought the movie was good mostly because of the cinematography, humor and because the story was nice. The movie does kind of change some of the common beliefs related to Christmas but I thought it was all in good fun. The movie was funny, but I actually thought it was going to be funnier with less seriousness. Anyhow that did not really matter to me because I thought it was overall good with an amusing storyline. So it seems much like the song Santa Claus and Fred Claus is coming to town if there is a movie theater there and in a funny fashion.

Across the Universe

Across the Universe was a drama, musical and romance movie that was directed by Julie Taymor. The movie stars Evan Rachel Wood (Lucy), Jim Sturgess (Jude), Joe Anderson (Max Carrigan), Dana Fuchs (Sadie) and others. I thought that it was pretty cool that Bono had a small acting and singing part in the movie. In the movie Jude is a dock worker who travels to America to find his unknown father and meets Lucy who he falls in love with and Max is drafted to Vietnam, which influences Lucy being against the war. I thought the movie was good at depicting events in the 60's through some strange but interesting filmography. I think you would have to enjoy both musicals and drama to watch the movie because this seemed to be the essense of the film overall. The singing was pretty good but it was not always probably what would be number one billboard hits. It was a little bit hard to follow every moment but I thought the movie was entertaining enough for me with it's artistic style, singing, action and events.

Bee Movie

Bee Movie was a Dreamworks movie directed by Steve Hicker and Simon J. Smith and the movie was an animation, comedy and family movie. The movie had some big name actors such as the voices of Jerry Seinfield (Barry B. Benson), Renee Zellweger (Vanessa Bloome), Matthew Broderick (Adam Flayman), John Goodman (Layton T. Montgomery), Chris Rock (Mooseblood) and others. The plot of the movie is that Barry leaves his beehive and meets a women Vanessa who he becomes friends with and Barry finds from being in the world that he should have more control over hunny and creates a lawsuit. To bad real life bugs don't make legal complaints like Barry rather then just showing up on your lunch. Anyhow the movie was funny but I think just a little bit of the humor might be hard for kids to understand like the joke about Enron. I also think the movie was somewhat educational because it showed the important jobs that bees do. The plot was far-fetched so it was hard not to laugh at certain times seeing bees work in a courthouse. So I don't think you can go wrong seeing this movie unless you are just in the mood for a different genre of film.
