Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer

The second Fantastic Four was directed by Tim Story and stars Loan Gruffudd (Reed Richards), Jessica Alba (Sue Storm), Chris Evans (Johnny Storm), Michael Chiklis (Ben Grimm), Julian McMahon (Victor Von Doom) and others. The movie is of the action, adventure, sci fi and fantasy genres. In the movie the Fantastic Four go up against the Silver Surfer and the planet Galactus as well as an old enemy from the past. I would say that the movie has some interesting twists as to how the Fantastic Four go about taking on wrongdoers. The movie was funny and I thought it was better then the first one. I thought that Johnny and Ben where the two funniest characters because they joke around and because of Johnny's ego. It comes in handy to see the first one because of certain characters that have been in both movies but I would not say it is necessary. So this movie is most likely worth the ticket if you happen to like Marvel comic stories.

Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End

The third Pirates movie was directed by Gore Verbinski and stars Johnny Depp (Jack Sparrow), Geoffrey Rush (Barbossa), Orlando Bloom (Will Turner), Keira Knightley (Elizabeth Swann) Jack Davenport (Norrington), Bill Nighy (Davy Jones) and others. The movie is of the action, adventure, comedy and fantasy genres. The plot of the movie is that Barbossa, Elizabeth Swann, Will Turner rescue Jack Sparrow and sail around waiting to face Davy Jones and Lord Beckett with the help of other pirates that they can find. The pirates also want to release the goddess Calypso by collecting special coins hoping that she will help them fight Jones, Norrington, the Flying Dutchman, and the whole East India Trading Company. I did not see the second movie but just the first and third, which was probably one of the reason I had trouble following parts of the movie and some characters roles. So it was a little hard to follow but it was still filled with good special effects, some comedy and pretty cool action scenes which I suppose made seeing the movie worth it. I think I will have to see the second one pretty soon and I am sure I would then like the third one better. So far I think the first one was best though.

Evan the Almighty

Evan the Almighty was directed by Tom Shadyac and starred Steve Carell (Evan Baxter), Morgan Freeman (God), Lauren Graham (Joan Baxter), Johnny Simmons (Dylan Baxter), Graham Phillips (Jordan Baxter), Jimmy Bennett (Ryan Baxter), John Goodman (Congressman Long), a whole bunch of animals and other good actors and actresses. The movie was of the fantasy and comedy genre and in the movie God finds Evan Baxter a congressman and asks him to build an Ark for the coming of a flood. This movie was like the second movie of Bruce Almighty because the name of the movie, the character Evan Baxter and because Morgan Freeman is God in both of these movies. I would say that this one was funnier then Bruce Almighty but I am not saying that Bruce Almighty was not funny because it was. It seemed to me there was more comedy scenarios then lines, which was hilarious to think about the circumstances of the movie and more real life circumstances. It also held life meaning, which you probably know by hearing about the plot of the movie. It had different meanings that I can relate to even though I don't think I will be building a boat near my house for animals but you never know. Anyhow I thought this movie was probably the funniest movie I have seen this summer so you should think about seeing it to.

Surf's Up

Surf's Up was directed by Ash Brannon and Chris Buck. The movie stars the voices of Shia Labeouf (Cody Maverick), Jeff Bridges (Big Z/Geek), Zooey Deschanel (Lani Aliikai), Jon Heder (Chicken Joe), James Woods (Reggie Belafonte), Diedrich Bader (Tank Evans), Mario Cantone (Mikey Abromowitz) and others. It is of the animation, comedy, action, family and sport genres. In the movie the annual Penguin World Surfing Championship is happening and Cody Maverick is going as a new surfer to the competition to compete with Tank Evans and in the movie Big Z is Mavericks surfing idol. Can't really say anything bad about this movie it had an exciting plot that made me want to go to the beach were there are hundreds of penguins. It had a lot of comedic situations and characters so I had thought it was worthwhile to see.

Knocked Up

Knocked Up was written and directed by Judd Apatow and is of the comedy, drama and romance genres. The movie stars Seth Rogen (Ben Stone), Katherine Heigl (Alison Scott), Paul Rudd (Pete), Leslie Mann (Debbie), Jason Segel (Jason), Jay Baruchel (Jay) and others. In the movie a party animal Ben Stone has an alcholic one night stand and finds eight weeks later he is going to be a father. I thought the movie was full of more funny circumtsances then actual lines. It did not really have a complicated plot and it was definitely filled with alot of curse words and trashy humor, but I thought that all the characters were amusing in their own way, that it was pretty funny and that the overall ending was good.

Shrek the Third

Shrek the Third was directed by Chris Miller and Raman Hui and is of the animation, adventure, comedy, family and fantasy genres. The movie stars Mike Myers (Shrek), Eddie Murphy (Donkey), Cameron Diaz (Fiona), Antonio Banderas (Puss in Boots), Justin Timerberlake (Artie), John Cleese (King Harold), Rupert Everett (Prince Charming) and other famous actors who had roles as the voices of characters in the movie. In the movie King Harold gives his kingdom of Far Far Away Land to Shrek but he does not want it because he likes his swamp and tries to find Artie someone else who is eligible to inherit the Far Far Away land. The other part of Shrek the Third movie consists of Prince Charming who is after the Far Far Away Land with his army of story book villains. I thought the ending was good and it was funny but it also seemed that some of the comedy was more adult humor then humor for kids, which I don't mind but I don't know if kids will find it funny. Prince Charmings army consists of other story book heroes which I think they could have left out because those characters come from different fairy tale stories altogether. But other then that I thought it was funny and as good as the first and second movies which I enjoyed.
